About 40 Veterans plus their guests attended the 2002 reunion at Fort Mitchell, Kentucky September 12 - 15. Those who lost their lives in battle and our Comrades who passed on since our last reunion were remembered in a Memorial Service. Probably the most touching part of the ceremony was the playing of "Amazing Grace" on the bagpipes by Officer Lance Donaldson of the Covington, Kentucky Police Department. The Color Guard was provided by the United States Army Cincinnati Recruiting Company, our Thanks! to all who participated. Many old friendships were renewed and new friendships gained. Levi O. Haire affectionately know as "Rabbit" retired as President after providing his Leadership since the Association was organized. "Rabbit" was presented with a beautiful hand cross stiched 13th Engineer Battalion emblem. By unanimous vote EDWARD "ED" F. LARKIN will provide his Leadership as President for the next two years, QUINTON OLSON Vice President and JOHN M. MURPHY Secretary/Treasurer. We will also have a new News Editor. The next reunion will be held in San Antonio, Texas in October 2004. A big THANK ! YOU to "Rabbit" and ED for their hard work and great job in getting this great reunion organized. I know others helped and I apologize for not knowing your names. I do know we owe HAROLD "Smitty" SMITH a big THANK! YOU for the great job he has been doing at reunion after reunion in keeping the Hospitality Room stocked with refreshments and dispensing them. Look for new names posted on the Company rosters. Contact me by e-mail if you wish to have yours posted or if you were unable to attend the reunion and have some questions or have pictures or suggestions for this web site.
